Military Recruiting HEATS UP among the TOP 25

Companies are beginning to recognize the value of military-shaped talent. If there’s one trend that’s evident among the 2005 TOP 25 Military-Friendly Employers, it’s intensifying competition in recruiting. As a result, most military-friendly companies are devoting more resources and creativity to the task. Why the demand? Transitioning military often require little on-the-job training. They bring discipline, relevant skills and a work ethic that most corporations covet. Plus, they represent a renewable resource, if you can develop the right programs to attract them. Click here for more reasons to hire veterans.

Career Fair of the Rockies

Projected worker shortages mean employers must actively seek qualified candidates before the pipeline narrows.  Transitioning military and Veterans often need little on the job training and bring discipline, relevant skills and a work ethic that most corporations covet.  This career fair will help employers find talented and experienced Veterans and other candidates to fill critical positions in their companies. Wednesday, March 14, 2006 , 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Doubletree World Arena Hotel, 1775 E. Cheyenne Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado  80906.

A Manager’s Annual Plan

Over the holidays, F. John Reh gave a lot of thought to what topic to start the year with. This year About Management starts with a four-part, chronological series on how to analyze and improve your organization, titled A Manager's Annual Plan.  The topics include:

  • Does the organization have goals?
  • What are they?
  • Are they reachable?
  • What do I need to reach them?
  • Have I got the right people and other resources?
  • How do I get them?
  • How do I communicate the mission?
  • How can I be a better leader?
  • What if they don't follow?

Quality and Quantity of Work

An interesting study was conducted by Sirota Intelligence in the United Kingdom. Researchers surveyed 203,000 workers, a relatively large population group. The poll found that the most satisfied, perhaps unsurprisingly, said they had just the right amount of work. The least satisfied were those with too little, followed by those with too much work. What does this mean? Click here to read entire article from the Herman Trend Alert.
