Customer Access Career Consultants

Customer Access Career Consultants serve a much needed yet somewhat unnoticed purpose. They assist our walk-in customers who may simply need assistance with updating and refining their registration record or referrals to community resources for urgent needs; walk customers through application process for training programs; provide one-on-one resume and job search assistance; and educate customers on programs/services (i.e., hiring events, workshops, job fairs, etc.) that could be applied to them specifically. Customer Access Career Consultants also assess and provide counseling services to de-escalate emotional situations when customers verbalize frustrations and anxieties. They greet employer customers and introduce them to the Business Relations Group, as well as, provide coverage for other Access Team members.

A Day in the Life of a Workforce Technician

The daily challenges of helping customers from all walks of life come in many forms…whether it be helping a frustrated customer over the phone update their skill set for the “Perfect Job”; instructing the single mother of four at the front desk about the community resources she may find in our city to help her out; or walking people through online employment applications in the Resource Room.  Each and every day we are proud of who we are and what we do!!! The sense of accomplishment we feel being able to MAKE someone’s day is outstanding. The thank you’s that we receive from our customers and the end results are wonderful

A Day in the Life of Employment and Training Consultant

Employment and Training Consultants (ETC) evaluate requests for scholarship applications based on established criteria. PPWFC began taking on-line pre-applications for education and training scholarships in demand occupations in September 2007.  Since then we have averaged 104 online applications per month.  ETC evaluates whether the applicant has means to pay for school and personal expenses; whether the education/training will lead to a demand occupation; and then invites those who have a good plan to complete a full application.  The ETC screens all applications for eligibility and readiness for training and collects required documents.  The next step is an Initial Assessment to gather pertinent information about the applicant and their training plan.  The ETC assigns the approved applicant files to a Career Consultant for case management.
