Programs and Eligibility

There are many programs available to job seekers who meet the program's eligibility requirements. Each program has different eligibility requirements. Please review this list to see if you qualify for any of the programs.

The Dislocated Worker Program is for people who have been laid off through no fault of their own, such as, a permanent plant closing or substantial layoff.

The Displaced Homemaker program is for people:

  • who were providing unpaid services to family members in the home, and
  • who have been dependent upon the income of another family member, but
  • are no longer supported by that income.

The Adult Program is for employed or unemployed people who need help to obtain or keep employment that allows for self-sufficiency and increased income.  Low-income adults are given priority when funding is limited.

If eligible for any of the above programs, you may receive assessments; individualized, interactive computer-based training; and practice drills to build your basic skills in areas such as reading and math.

Self-paced academic and computer skills training help you get your GED; enter a training program; or find a job and compete in today's labor market. Eligible customers may also receive vocational or occupational training to help obtain successful, long-term employment in a growing career field.

If funding permits, eligible customers may receive vocational/occupational training or re-training.

Military Grant Program for military spouses who have lost their job (while stationed at their previous duty assignment) due to the transfer of the military member to a base or post in the Pikes Peak Region. Spouses must be unemployed or underemployed since arriving in the local area. The program also includes Department of Defense (DOD) civilian personnel who have been laid off due to a reduction in force, and displaced homemakers, who were providing unpaid services to family members in the home and who have been dependent on the income of a military family member, but are no longer supported by that income.

Program benefits include career counseling and comprehensive assessments, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, computer classes, and access to a series of job readiness workshops that will increase your employability. In many instances, participants may also receive vocational and occupational skills training in highly marketable occupations at little or no cost.
