If you need extra assistance
to become employed, or you believe that qualify for
one of the special programs listed later in this Orientation,
then you should make an appointment to meet with a
Career Advisor.
Please phone 719-667-3733 or 719-667-3706
for more information. The person who answers the phone
is a trained Workforce Technician. S/he will ask some
questions about your needs and will schedule an appointment
for you, if necessary.
What is a Career Advisor?
A Career Advisor is a highly trained, professional
who can provide an initial assessment of your needs.
They also help job seeker customers in the Resource
Room, make job referrals for job seekers who lack computer
skills, and schedule individual appointments to discuss
program eligibility and enrollment.
The Career Advisor may recommend that you attend workshops
to upgrade your resume or improve your interviewing
skills. They may encourage you to attend one of the
three networking groups for job seekers. A Career Advisor
may suggest that you complete self-service programs
in the Resource Room to help you to become more marketable
and more likely to find suitable employment.
If you are still unable to attain employment, and
you meet certain eligibility requirements, you may be enrolled in programs that offer more intensive services
or occupational training.
