Education and Training Scholarships for Dislocated Workers
Sponsoring Organization: Pikes Peak Workforce Center
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to local residents who have been separated from their place of employment through no fault of their own (plant closure, layoff, military ETS) and desire to continue to live and work in the Pikes Peak region.
Amount: $0 -$3000 to be determined by Career Consultant based on individual employment plan
Eligibility:
- Must be U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must be a resident of El Paso or Teller County
- Must be 18 years of age +
- If male born on or after Jan.1, 1960, must have registered for Selective Service
- Veterans preference applies
Other Criteria:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
(If not, complete “Career Foundations” application at PPWFC for assistance).
- Education/ training program must be approved on Colorado Department of Labor’s Eligible Training List (see navigator.cdle.state.co.us).
- If currently enrolled in school, must be within 12 months of completing education/training program and have at least a 2.0 GPA.
- If not attending school, education or training of interest must be a 12 month
program or shorter
- Must test at 9th grade level or higher in reading and math.
(Testing is waived for those with at least a Bachelor’s Degree)
- Must have financial need for tuition assistance but have means to manage personal expenses while in school.
- Must need education or training to gain marketable skills or advance in career
- Must have demonstrated ability to maintain employment
- Background checks are required for certain occupations

Complete Preliminary Application (click here). You will receive a response within 10 working days. Semifinalists for scholarship awards will be asked to complete a full application packet, to take required tests/assessments, and to provide required eligibility documents.
