Overview

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center (PPWFC) is part of a nationwide network of One-Stop Career Centers, serving El Paso and Teller counties. PPWFC serves three major customer types: employers, adults and youth.

At PPWFC, employers are the #1 priority! PPWFC helps employers find the right person for the job by searching our database of job seekers and matching their skills and education with those required by the employer. From free job posting to hiring events to labor market information, PPWFC has it all to help businesses succeed! Workshops include: OSHA, Insurance, Labor Laws, Child Labor Laws, Small Business Start Up, HIPPA, Industry Information Sessions and more. Our Employer Account Representatives also help with downsizing and closings and can provide the latest labor market information to help businesses make sound decisions.

PPWFC adult programs are aimed at improving the employability of job seekers, especially those on public assistance or those who are economically disadvantaged. The Workforce Investment Act was created the help economically disadvantaged adults gain the necessary skills to find and keep employment. If eligible, adults may enter a training program that will put them on the right path for gaining a good-paying career in the near future!

In addition, all adults may use the PPWFC Resource Room which offers free, self-service tools and information helpful in career planning and job searching. The Resource Room provides computers with Internet access, printers, a facsimile machine, phones and a copy machine to help job seekers find and apply for jobs. Other free services for all job seekers include workshops on topics such as filling out applications, interview techniques, and resume writing.

The PPWFC Youth program targets youth, 17 to 21, who are having trouble achieving academic or employment success. Out-of-school youth who may not have completed their diploma requirements can find help getting their GED or getting back into school. All local youth can participate in the Governor’s Summer Job Hunt program, a free summer job referral service and are welcome to attend workshops on job search skills. If eligible, youth may receive help with career assessments, tutoring and study skills, tuition assistance, leadership training, mentoring, occupational training, apprenticeships and more.
