Hire Colorado Program

Hire Colorado is an innovative program that offers employers the opportunity to train and develop future employees while saving money. It helps businesses reduce labor costs and train potential employees to meet their specific needs and standards.
 
Hire Colorado provides paid work experiences and on the job training opportunities for eligible job seekers and supports the creation of new jobs across the state. The Hire Colorado program offers employers the opportunity to train and develop future workers. 
 
For the Hire Program, the workforce center is seeking companies with the following positions:  Administrative, Management, and Construction
 
Emphasis will also be placed on these priority industries:  renewable energy and energy efficient projects, infrastructure enhancements, information technology, healthcare, and education.  However, companies with other types of positions are encouraged to apply.
 
Note:  This program is only open to employers who pay wages on IRS form W-2.


Hire Colorado promotes employment through Work Experiences, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities. A brief description of each program is noted below:


Work Experience

If your company is accepted into the Work Experience program, the Pikes Peak Workforce Center commits to the following:
  • Meet with you to better understand your workforce needs
  • Complete a search of qualified job seekers who match your needs
  • Provide interview opportunities with potential candidates
  • Provide Workers’ Compensation coverage during their training
  • Pay wages during onsite training period
In return, the employer agrees to the following:
  • Provide meaningful training/work experience for the individuals
  • Treat the employee as a valued member of staff

On the Job Training (OJT)

This program offers employers the opportunity to hire qualified applicants and train them to company standards.

If your company is accepted into the OJT program, the Pikes Peak Workforce Center commits to the following:
  • Meet with you to better understand your workforce needs
  • Provide applicants for interview
  • Conduct regular site evaluations
  • Reimburse the company for “training” costs up to 50% of the individual’s salary
In return, the employer agrees to the following:
  • Provide hiring opportunities to those individuals who meet your criteria
  • Provide benefits and insurance coverage to the employee
  • Provide the workforce center with a detailed training plan

    NOTE: Participants cannot be employed by the company prior to the beginning of the OJT contract.

Eligibility Criteria For Hire Colorado Program:

Public sector employers, private employers, non-profit employers, and for-profit employers are considered acceptable for the HIRE Colorado subsidized employment placements.

Requirements for Employers:
1. Employers must treat participants in the subsidized employment program equitably as a valued member of their staff.

2. Employers must comply with The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

3. Employers must observe Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Laws.

4. Employers must provide meaningful training and work experience for potential employees.

5. Employers must consent to work-site monitoring to ensure that all parties are meeting pre-determined performance guidelines.
 
6. Employers must attest that no individuals are on layoff from the same or any substantially equivalent job within the company or organization.

7. Employers must attest that no existing regular employees were terminated to create the vacancy that will be filled by the program participant.

8. Employers must complete a written Work Experience Agreement that clarify expectations for all parties to include the following:

a. Names and contact information of all parties
b. Responsibilities and requirements of the participant, the worksite employer, and the Pikes Peak Workforce Center representative
c. Agreement signatures and dates from site supervisor, participant and Pikes Peak Workforce Center representative

Targeted Industries and Positions Sought:
  • Administrative Positions
  • Management Positions and
  • Construction Positions
