Colorado Enhanced Approved Training

Colorado unemployment claimants have the opportunity to attend school or training and receive 50 percent more in weekly benefits while attending training programs leading to occupations determined by the state to be in demand.

The Colorado Enhanced Approved Training Program (CEATP) allows claimants enhanced benefits for up to 20 weeks maximum and cumulative. Effective July 1, 2012, the program has expanded to include those receiving extended benefits (EUC), as well as, those in their initial claim.   CEATP has been extended to June 30, 2014.

CEATP may be paid retroactively to July 1, 2009 if an individual was in approved training while receiving regular unemployment benefits (between July 1, 2009 through June 30 2012).

Note: A person who received the CEATP benefit for less than 20 weeks

because his/her Initial Claim period ended may now apply for the remaining weeks

providing all other criteria are met.

To apply for CEATP:

1.    You must be registered with Pikes Peak Workforce Center at www.connectingcolorado.com .

2.    Confirm that your field of study is on the Approved Occupational Title list below.

(CEATP does not cover prerequisites, general education classes, or four- year programs.

You must be able to obtain a certificate or degree within two years.)

3.    On the day of or after your first day of class, pick up a CEATP application at Pikes Peak Workforce Center’s reception desk (1675 Garden of the Gods Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80907).

4.    Turn in your completed application at PPWFC and attach your class schedule and unofficial transcript. If you do not have a class schedule, you may substitute a letter on the training provider’s letterhead verifying you are enrolled in an eligible training program. You will be directed to the Resource Room where your documents can be copied and your application will be logged.

5.    Unemployment Insurance will notify you by mail regarding your CEATP acceptance status. Please do not call PPWFC about your eligibility.

6.    IMPORTANT: As you complete each term or block of classes, grades, certificates or diploma MUST be turned in within seven days of receipt to show progress. If you do not turn in grades, certificates or diploma, you will be required to pay back CEATP payments.

Your proof of progress may be emailed to: ceatp@elpasoco.com or faxed to 719-667-3754, attention: CEATP.

CEATP applications take about 8-10 weeks to process by Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.  If you do not receive your CEATP payments after the 10th WEEK, feel free to call 719-667-3883 or 719-667-3739 to check on the status of your CEATP payments.

NOTE: Please do not call the Regular Unemployment Insurance office to check on the status.
