Additional information about filing an Unemployment Insurance Claim

You must file an Initial Claim with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment at 1-800-388-5515 or at the website http://www.coworkforce.com/ and click on Unemployment Insurance Claims.

You Must Be:

  • Able to work
  • Available to work
  • Actively seeking work
  • Registered with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center.

What is a job contact? Job Contacts are your efforts to find new employment. Job Contacts may be made by:

  • Interviewing in person
  • Emailing a résumé to an employer who has an open position for which you qualify
  • Mailing a résumé to an employer who has an open position for which you qualify
  • Calling an employer to discuss job openings for which you qualify
  • Faxing a résumé to an employer who has positions for which you qualify
  • Locating a job, for which you qualify, on the Internet and applying for that position as the employer requests

Keep good records

  • Work-Search Log - A work-search log is a list of the ways you have tried to find work; applying over the internet, mailing a resume, calling an employer, etc. Make sure to note the date that you applied, the person/s that you spoke to, and what method of application you used. These records may become part of an audit on your claim.

  • Put your CUBLINE Information in a safe place
  • Remember:
    • Your PIN number
    • Your CUBLINE number
    • Your call-in date
  • Networking

Questions about Unemployment Insurance benefits or claims should be made to the Unemployment Insurance office of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment at the toll-free number: 1-800-388-5515 between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays, except holidays, or by email at http://www.coworkforce.com. Mondays and Tuesdays have the heaviest call volume and you may wait longer for service. The Hearing Impaired (TDD) can call 303-318-9016 or 1-800-894-7730.

Pikes Peak Workforce staff members are PROHIBITED from answering any questions about Unemployment Insurance Claims.

How to File A Claim*

Claims for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits are filed EXCLUSIVELY BY TELEPHONE or ONLINE. To file a claim, to inquire about the status of a claim, or obtain general information about the Unemployment Insurance Claims process, call:

Phone calls are taken between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM Mountain Standard time, Monday through Friday, except on state observed Holidays.

To file for payment on an existing claim, to inquire about the status of a claim, or to obtain information about the Unemployment Insurance claims process call:

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You must file for payment by 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard time, for same-day processing.
