The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the results of its Tools for America's Job Seekers Challenge. Recommendations have been tallied, and the top-rated sites in each of six categories — general job boards, niche tools, career tools, career exploration tools, Web 2.0 and "other" — are now available.

PPWFC has satellite offices in Calhan, Cripple Creek, Fountain, Monument and Woodland Park. For hours and locations, click here.  The Monument office is temporarily closed and is expected to reopen at a new location. As soon as we have details regarding the reopening, we will post the information here.

You may file for unemployment insurance using any computer that is connected to the Internet. To file for unemployment in Colorado, click here. You are not required to visit our office in person to file a UI claim. 

UI Reps from Denver are at the Workforce Center on Tuesday and Wednesdays, starting at 8 a.m.  Claimants are seen on a first come, first served basis.  Please be prepared to wait to speak with a Rep. A Hotline to the UI office is available on Fridays only at our main location, 1675 Garden of the Gods Road; 9 a.m. – 12 Noon, walk-in only, first come first served. NOTE:  There will not be  UI rep at PPWFC on Wednesday, April 16.  

Are you newly unemployed, laid off through no fault of your own? Filed for, or receiving unemployment benefits?

If yes, you may qualify for:

- One-on-one intensive services with a Workforce Specialist to polish your resume and perfect your interview skills
- Help developing a job search plan and guidance from a Business Specialist to reach out to key employers
- Access to hard-to-find information to guide your employment search

Career Scene Investigation (CareerScope) is a computerized interest and aptitude assessment and exploration tool to survey interests, occupations, required training, wages and labor market information for clues to your career plan. PREREQUISITE: Must have basic computer and internet skills. Available during Open Lab hours: Monday: 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday: 9:00 to 12 Noon Wednesday: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday: 9:00 to 12 Noon Friday: 9:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Ask A Career Consultant Have you attended PPWFC’s workshops for help with career planning, job search, resume writing, and interviewing skills but still not met with success? Career Consultants are available to answer your questions and offer suggestions. The H.I.R.E.D. orientation is a prerequisite to see a Career Consultant. To reserve your spot, click here
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING -  The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is bringing employers and job seekers together to participate in an On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program. OJTs help job seekers bridge the gap between their current skills and the skills employers are seeking. It gives job seekers the opportunity to improve and/or gain new skills while being employed and earning a regular paycheck. Qualified job seekers for this program must be unemployed for least 19 weeks. For more information and to apply, click here.

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center has received funding from the U.S. Department of Labor to provide education and training to highly-skilled employed workers in the Advanced Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Professional Scientific/Aerospace industry occupations. The Advanced Technical Training Grant has a special emphasis on veterans, women and minorities pursuing careers within these industries.
